The Poetry of Flowers

This body of work begun from my interest in the historical use of flowers as a way of cryptological communication.  Flowers also hold meaning in superstitions, symbolism, and complicated emotions in our own memories and experiences.  Their scent is filled with joy, sorrow, nostalgia and other feelings that can’t be put into words.  I have used flowers in this series to explore themes of life, death and reincarnation.  I am able to give hints to the narratives with the use of flowers in these paintings.  During my solo show, I accompanied these paintings with my poetry as another way to give more layers to the stories I am telling.
